As for his parents, Valerie and Luis, They will continue to be an example of what type of parent I want to be. They endured all the ups and downs and not ONCE complained. Not once did they give up hopes or give up on their child. Not once did they sit and blame God for their child's hardships or for taking him away. They embraced the situation and celebrated his life instead. They turned to their faith and pulled through. They are the epitomy of examplary and admirable human beings. May they continue to be as blessed, brave, and loving as they are now. Always remember GO BLUE XAVIER!
I do not claim to know it all nor do I wish to. For after knowing it all, there is nothing else to do in life. I invision myself as an empty urn that is filled as the days go by. I have gone through so much in my short 24 years of age but I continue to learn from life and others that have gone through similar life situations. I am proud to say that I will continue down this road of livng and learning.
Recently, my high school best friend went through one of life's hardships. I am proud to say that we were best friends and continue to have a friendship after so many years. We have had our ups and downs but in times of need, we are always there for each other. She was once a very emotional teen. She tended to cry and let others be the strong ones. She has emerged from that stage into a courageous brave woman. Many times people have told me how brave I am . How they couldn't believe how I didn't falter at my mother's viewing and burial service. However, I hadn't seen bravery until I saw Valerie at her son's, Luis Xavier Medina-Camacho, service. My hat is off to both Luis and Valerie for being so strong in such a sad and hard time. They celebrated their baby boy's life and showed how it was a blessing to have him as long as they had.

Xavier is truly a blessing and a example of what it is like to not give up. Regardless of what he went through, surgery after surgery, he always had a beautiful smile on his face. He had an unending energy that surrounded him that no matter how bad your day may have been, he made you see that it just wasn't that bad. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once and that day, I remember as if it was yesterday. They had gone to my house to drop off his little cousin's birthday party invitation. I was having a hard time with my mom, since she had just gotten out of the hospital and I hadn't slept. He was so happy and bouncy that it made me think to myself "here is a child that fights for life every day and here you are complaining of lack of sleep." He truly is an inspiration and will continue to be to me for as long as I live.
